ABNORMAL / IRREGULAR BLEEDING

Abnormal bleeding means irregular bleeding between normal menstrual periods, or bleeding after menopause.

If you notice abnormal bleeding, it is important to talk to your GP or gynaecologist. A simple female pelvic exam and an up-to-date pap smear can help to look for any possible source of bleeding from the vulva, vagina and cervix.

Non-cancerous (benign) growths inside the uterus, such as fibroids, polyps, and excessive growth of the cells on the lining of the uterus (a condition called endometrial hyperplasia) are also common cause of irregular bleeding. A pelvic ultrasound scan can identify some of these problems.

Hysteroscopy is one of our specialized minimally invasive procedures and is regarded as the gold standard exam of the uterine cavity. Our combined diagnostic and therapeutic hysteroscopy means that any benign growth will be removed in the same surgery once it is identified. It is also an important test to exclude the possibility of cancer inside the uterus.
